Notes
Chadirji designed this house during a time when he was introducing concepts as the open plan layout to the Iraqi clientele. He used proportions based on Le Corbusier’s Modulor.
The architect devised an idiosyncratic system of openings and views; each opening is preceded or proceeded by an element altering the view by reframing it or mediating it with a patterned ornamental screen. For instance, the courtyard around which the design is centered is separated from the exterior esplanade with a perforated brick screen.
